I'm a member in swap-bot for quite a while now, and I love it!!! I love happy mail day, when I'm coming home and I have some packages waiting for me! It is so much fun to open and see what other people did for me and how they deiced to spoil me. I will honest, I never been flacked by any one but few times I got some 'lets put some cheep staff together and send it away'... and some time I got beautiful staff that I was left with words of thanks!

And why I tell you all about it? Because there is a great give away on swap bot. The glitter give away, and I love glitter on my Christmas staff, so, here I am spreading the word about swap bot and about this great give away... Take a look, you might fall in love as well :-)

It is my favorite time of the year. I love the fall.

Love the crisp air, the leaves that changing from green to bright red, orange, yellow and even purple! Ahh, autumn. if you could stay forever :-)

So, when I heard about the 'Autumn swap' in 'Frida and Numa' you bet I joined right away :-)

I made a pillow case.

Need some inspiration?

Some time we have lots of inspiration to craft and work, some time the Muse going for a vacation leaving us behind... In 'Frida and Numa' we had an inspiration swap. We were asked to make something that will inspire our partner. I know I always get inspired by a good word... So, I went

'quote hunting'. I found this quote on a card and I fell in love with the wise words:

"Happiness is like a butterfly,

the more you chase it, the more it will elude you,

but if you turn your attention to other things,

it will come and sit softly on your shoulder..." (Thrneau)

I bought the card and cut it to strips, paint the canvas blue and using 'Tim Holtz' mask I added some interest. Using an old book I got from the second hand shop I cut a flower. For the center I used a big circle brad and a flower brad over a black card stock. I stamped some butterflies and used a glitter black embossing powder to give them a shine.

Hope my partner will find it inspirational as I did.

Ever since I've seen the magnetic board Keren-Parparim made I knew that some day I'll make something like that!

Well, this day came few weeks ago when I signed in to a 'pockets' swap. I thought first to make a board using a pink-green combination but after visiting the west side of Canada I came up with the cowgirl look... I really enjoy making the board and making the flower was real fun. For the center of the flowers I cut some circles and used white buttons.

I got a message saying that my partner really liked the pocket-board... :-)

Summer..

Summer.. I'm not a real summer person. I can't take the heat too well... Yes, I know. I grew up in Israel which is a very hot place, I should LOVE the heat... but I don't. I love summer food, summer colors and I love the sun... but I don't like the heat at all! I prefer -40 C and not +40C...

We had a summer swap in 'Frida and Numa'. In Israel every one are going to the beach (mostly on the weekend but you can see people during the week as well). I love going to the beach (early in the morning or late in the after noon - just not in the heat of the day!) and just be there, enjoy the warm water, the warm sand and the beautiful sun sets!

I made a beach bag for my partner. I used a heavy duty fabric for the outside, which have a bright color to it and lined it with a cotton fabric. On the out side I've sewn a big pocket to put extra staff in. Miri, who got my bag sent me a message telling me she loved it and really happy with the swap.

White...

I love the color white, it is such a clean, quiet color...

White always remind me of wedding and fresh linens.

In one on the Commune I'm a member we had a White swap. Here what I've made for my swap partner. The frame is a frame I got at Michael's', I've painted it white. For the first coat I've mixed the white with a bit of light blue, the second coat was pure white. I then sanded a bit and distressed the edges with a brown chalk ink.

With my black 'Stazon' I've stamped some swirls and added some spark with and sparkling glue.

In the middle on a white card stock I added the words: love, live, laugh as an inspiration and added a circle flower with a brad (such a 70' brad, isn't it??? I love it!)

For the card I used a clear plastic that I stamped with the same swirls, here I added some silver Jules, for the writing I used a white emboss card stock.

I really like making this, hope she will enjoy it! (the white mark is to hide her name so I won't spoil the surprise!)

Three years... That's how long Gilad Shalit is away from his friends and family. Can you imagine how his parents are feeling? How they longing to hold him, to talk to him, to comfort him and protect him?

Three years! That's 1096 days!! Can you imagine it? I can't...

What a young man could achieve in that time...

Gilad didn't get to start those staff, he still being held by the Hamas.

The last mail art swap I took part was titled as "home", we could use any media and technique we wanted. After long debating what to do and searching for inspiration through the net I looked out side my window and heard all the birds outside... What say more welcome home but when you hear the bird sing on the tree around your house :-)

I painted the canvas light blue and then dry brash it with pink (I love this color combination!) and used some pattern paper to make some bird houses. The bird border was cut thanks for the Quick-kutz 12" border I got for my birthday! Isn't it cool?!?

I've sent the canvas to Mimi and from a message I got from her she loved it! I really enjoyed making it and my sister asked for one as well (hope to be able to make one before my friend from Israel arrive so she can take it with her!).

Shavuot (Pentecost)

Pentecost is the best holiday in the Jewish calender ever! I absolutely love this holiday! For you gentiles that don't know, Pentecost is celebrated seven weeks after Passover, hence his name, Shavuot, which means in Hebrew weeks.

In Israel this holiday called 'the cheese holiday' as well, as it is custom to eat cheese products and no meat. I love cheese and dairy in general so for me this holiday is a feast! I really enjoy it.

To bring some more spring feeling to table it is custom to decorate the table with flowers, so in stand of going out and cutting some real flowers I sewed some...

What says more spring then flowers???

I really enjoy making them!

I'm sure you know this situation... The phone ring and you are going all over your hang bag just to pull it out when the person hang up... ARRRRRR... So upsetting!!!

For a long time I was planning to make my self a holder to my new blackberry (well, it's not that new any more ;-)), and yesterday finally I set down and made it!

I really happy with the way it came out and happy with it!

Roei is my nephew from Israel. I see him all the time through Skype... He actually think I live in the computer hahah (well, he is just 23 months...). When my mom or sister ask him where is auntie Mira he points to the computer, isn't he cute?!?

My sister, his mom, asked me last year to make for him a scrapbook's album, I just got started now!!! I know, long time but I was indeed busy with other staff... :-)

Any way, this is not the first page.. the first one is not finished yet, the second one which is a double layout I don't really like and going to change it... and this is the forth page which I really really love!

This layout is about Roei and my sister Lee (the other auntie) reading a book together. I think it's so cute and I love the way they both cuddle together... Don't you?

Liam, is turning four today! I saw this play mat somewhere in the net but, I can't remember where so if any one recognize it please tell me so I can credit the artist!

I've made a play mat and added some Jungle animals with it... I remembered that there is a rope around but I couldn't find any at the time and didn't know what to do...

Last night I couldn't sleep (no, not because of that but it helped... :-D) and thought what to do with it.. till I remembered that one time I saw how the pioneers were using old cloth to make rugs and other staff by connecting them together to one long thread... so that what I did! I've made three strips and braided them together...

For the card I've made a lion card... I really hope Liam would like it...

I usually don't scrap for my self...

I know sound strange, but it's true... most of my scrapbooking is for family members... till now!

I came across this picture and just loved it... Sheldon is taking the picture and we are in Algonquin park, Ontario (not far away from home). From the first time Sheldon took me there I fell in love with the place. It is huge with lots of short or long trails, and we sometime go there every weekend for a hike.

I used Making memories Passport collection and didn't want to take away from the beautiful paper...

My cousin, Haim, is getting married some time in March. When my mom was here I made her three different cards for him. One from her, one from my sister Lee and one from my sister Zehavit. I really enjoyed making them! I love weddings!

What home means to you?

For me, home is my family, where ever my husband is there is my home! Before I got married my home was with my parents, sisters and brothers (and their families...). I miss my family every day and it's hard not to see them as often as I want. We do speak on the phone and on Skipe... I even got to see my parents apartment after remodeling...

But one more thing say home to me... food! my mom food, my brother's and my sister.. as a daughter to a good cook, sister to a chef and a grand daughter to a baker and a cook I love food and love making it. When Lee came to see me two years ago (she just finished her army service and came to relax a bit before starting the real life in Israel) she really liked the food I made and asked for the recipes... I told her I'll email her but never did...

Here are Lee's favourite food recipes and I added one more that she never tried for her to get something new...

I got the idea to use this house album from the cover on http://www.scrapbookingandbeyondmag.com/. Here is my version to the house recipe album... I know she loved it because I got a very happy and exited phone call a day after... :-)

I'm back!

I am a dribble blogger, didn't write since the end of October of last year (just 3 months ago, but still.. last year sound harsher, don't you think.... ).

I didn't do much in this three months consider my craft life... the first time I held a stamp again was a week ago, just before my parents left back home to Israel. Every time my mom go back home I send with her all the birthday gifts I need to give and this time I sat and made some cards as well. My mom "used" this golden opportunity and asked me to make some card for her as well...

So, here we go...

First, my sister Lee who will celebrate in few days 23 winters!!! I can't believe it! I still remember the day my dad came home and told us we have a little sister (I was almost 12 when she was born... now do the calculation to know how old I am...) :-)

The first card was mad for my parents to give her, my mom really liked this stamp (and I love using it as much as I can as well).

The second card was made from a lay out I saw on the web in one of the blog. I can't remember which one but as soon as I will I'll credit the talent artist.

After Lee, comes Ronnie, my niece who turn nine this year.

This card if for my mom to give her. Phoo stamp is one of my first stamps I bought 12 years ago! When I just started to make cards.

And this card is going with my gift for her... I got this adorable girl last year when I went to 'the sticker factory' store in Toronto with a friend (need to go there again)...

After Ronei come her sister, Noa turn... she'll be six this year... In this card I tried to use a rub on, but it won't come clean (it's an old one), so... I cut around and glued this one to the card...

This card I mad for my my to give her. I bought this stamp at the same time as Phoo but never really used it... I don't like the coloring but this is the best I got around 4AM..

Orit and Eti, my two sister in low are celebrating birthdays this month as well... for them I mad a small card (each 3*3 inches), using Basic Grey paper and adding a chipboard star... hope they will like it...

Tal is my brother in low and Pini is dating my sister, Lee and we hope he will join the family soon :-) here are Tal and Pini cards.. again, small cards (3*3) and simple... paper again is BasicGrey...

And the last to this bunch is Yuval my nephew who turn 11 this year!

Our women group in church is meeting once a month for a fun night. This night we had a card making night. I taught them to make a water fall card. We had fun and enjoyed the evening very much. Everyone made beautiful card they were really exited to learn how to make this card...

I have some friends that I love sending them hand made staff. I know they will like it and more will appreciate it... They are dear Friends that I consider as my spiritual family. I didn't talk to them for such a long time and I miss them so much. I made this card and thought about them, I wrote a note inside and tomorrow it will be on the way...

I was inspired to make this card by a friend of mine from Israel, Hagar. She made a great layout like this one (I have to admit that her work is much nicer!!!), I don't have a link to her card so you'll have to trust me on this one... :-)

Well, Anat, one of my best friends had her birthday on Sep. 15.... Yap, I know.. a month went by.. I did make her a card long ago but couldn't upload it to the blog cause my laptop didn't have an Internet for a while... any way.. the Internet is back and here is the card I've made.

Quilt of our life

Yesterday, Oct. 11 we celebrated five years of marriage.

I had some ideas what to make Sheldon on this special day but we didn't go home but went to his parents, so I didn't have all my supplies with me. I went to my sister in law Susan and got some staff... I made a paper quilt card that is actually made by two squares size 6*6 in. I fold the squares to made triangles, used basic gray papers to make the quilt.

I made some triangles with light color so I can write to Sheldon my wish to more years with him and my reasons to love him that much.

He loved the card and was really moved by it!

Sometime (OK, lots of times!) we are driving at night, into the morning. Most of the time Sheldon is the one who drive and I'm sleeping. On this trip I woke up and Sheldon asked me if I mind to drive a bit cause he is tired... I took the wheel and good thing I did! Other wise, I could have miss this gorges sun rise! Look how the sky just look on fire!!! What a great way to start a day of driving :-)

One of my friend made a clowns deco and I asked to make a page in it...

I've joined the Ten Commandments ATC's on swap-bot, I thought it will be easy, but BOY was I wrong! It took me weeks to think how to bring the 'you shall not lie' to an art form... I think I did a good job in the end and I do hope the receiver will like it...

1. I got to know my husband through the Internet.

4. My niece was injured in a bomb in Israel when she was 2 and a half years old, she survived! (she's ten now).

5. While going to a Bible school in North Carolina I lived in a cabin with NO electricity up on the Smoking Mountains and LOVED it!!!

6. I witnessed a tornado storm up at the mountains in North Carolina... good thing I've moved my car.. a tree fell on the same spot where it was parked..

7. I have two older brothers and two youngest sisters..

Swap-bot, my favorite place to find cool swaps had this ATC swap.

I love the ocean and any thing that related to it... fish, shell fish, boats and sailing... So, when I saw this one I knew I have to participate.

We were to make two ATC's cards to the same person so I had to make two different ones... Hope the girl that about to get them will like them :-)

Happy New Year Gilad

On September 29 the Jewish nation will celebrate the Jewish new year. It is a big holiday back home in Israel and a very family one, all the family sit around the table eating apple dipped in honey and lots of pomegranates...

One of the families in Israel will be missing their boy around the table, Gilad Shalit kidnapped two years ago by the Hammas and been kept in captivity since then. We know that he is alive and we all pray for his safe return home and reunion with his family and friends.

A group of Israelis live in London UK asked people from all around the world to send Gilad a New Year card, the card is to be sent to the Israeli embassy in London and will be transfer to the red cross. We do hope that the Hammas will be willing to give Gilad the cards to lift up his spirit.

This is the card I've made for him. I've sent it today.

Come home soon Gilad, we are all praying and waiting for you!!!

Little Mermaid....

Mermaid... who doesn't know little Ariel that wanted legs??? My youngest sister was one when the movie came to Israel and for more then two years thats all we watched... till today I can sing "Under the sea" (in Hebrew ofcours... ).

So, when I saw this ATC swap on swap bot I knew I have to join in...

I didn't want to use Ariel but to use my own drawing.. so this is what I did:

I cut the tail and saw on this the shiny swquins. For her bra I used sea shell golden sequin that I cut smaller, the send is a sticker and I drew the sea and the clouds.

Hope the girl that will get will like it.

Remember Mr. Davis 80'th birthday? So, my dear husband asked me to make 'thank you' notes to all the gust that honor his dad on his birthday, total of 35 cards...

I have chosen a very simple layout that it will simple to duplicate the card. I cut the squares, circle and scallops with my faithful 'Cricut', and added 'Prima' flowers.. the 'thank you' it's in my own hand writing... It took me about three horus to complete the challenge..

Now all it's left to do is to print the group picture from the birthday, write something (my husband will do that...) and send the card.

Why I'm telling you about this song? Because "Frida and Numah" cummuna had a swap about birds. The girl that organized the swap gave only the subject and told us we can make what ever we wanted!

I've made a greeting card folder. I got the idea from Dawn Griffith blog, if you don't know her blog I urge you to go and check it out, she is wonderful artist!!!

I haven't been here for such a long time... My mom and my niece left a week ago and I was planning to download my camera and write here at my mother in-low, but I forgot my camera at home and just today was able to download and write here.

So guys... sit back... here we go... :-)

first will come my nephew, Noam birthday card. Noam turned 8 this June and I sent him a gift with my mom and made him this card. Talking with his mom he loved it and he loved all the Origami paper I sent him (he loves to make origami figures).

the second card I've made for my sister Zahavit birthday that was on June. I used basic gray paper and made a very simple LO.

My two oldest brothers Ori and Yossi birthdays are just around the corner, using my mom as a 'delivery boy' I've sent a gift and cards for them as well... both cards are the same.

I got to know Dorly through the 'Frida and Numa' kumuna. In the last time she swap a designed notebook and was very disapointed...

In the same time I had to send her some staff so I decided to make her a small notebook. I used basic gray paper, sticker to to spell her name, add a flydragon and some brads.

From the exited email I got from Dorly when she received the packege I know that she loved it!

Alona is more then a cousin, she is a one of my best friend and she is getting married! The wedding will be in Israel (and for sure I'll be there!!!). I made her a notebook to write all the information she needs (and from my wedding memories there is a lot to write down).

Her name is ABC's sticker with the dragonfly, the word 'wedding' is cut with trusted Cricut and I added some jeweled brads, the dress is a ready sticker ...

Calum turned 3 and got for his birthday a big construction center with trucks and cairn, dirt and much more... but for his birthday card I wanted something cute... and what is more cute then a cute monkey... I cut the monkey with my trusted Cricut machine.. :) I am so so thankful for this gadget...

Mr. Davis is 80 years old

well, 80 years old it's pretty impressive... don't you think so??? We did!

We invited all his buddies, specially the ones that he fish and hunt with and we knew he would love to see them... all four boys with their family and all the friends came to celebrate this special things. I made a slide show which was great and of coarse made cards (my mom was in the party as well as she was visiting us from Israel).

For my card I have used a ready tag in a vintage look, add some ribbon and inking.

For my mom card I have used a sunflower rubber stamp.

My name is Mira and I'm 34 years old. Born and raised in Israel and now living in Canada... Love it here!!! I'm married to my wonderful husband which got to know him through the Internet... (hocked or not hhhhha).

Love paper craft and been making my own cards for some years now. Was exposed to rubber stamping while living in NC (went to a Bible school there) in 1994.

Back home in Israel I have my family, friends and home church that I miss them all very much.

By the shore - Deco

Deco, it's a hand made book that travel between artist. The Deco has a title and in the end is going back to it's creator.

My freind Dorli really like Deco, and in the last one she created I just knew I had to participate! I love the sea and when she told me that the next Deco is "By the shore" I was really exited!!!

I used one of my faviorate rubber stamp, I drew a sea shell and addedd some fabric brads. I love it, hope Dorli will too!

Oranit is getting married!

One of my good friends in Israel is getting married. I wish, really wish I could be there to celebrate this happy event!

Oranit and I mate when we both worked together for EL AL, the Israeli air line in Israel. She still works there... It turned to be a great place to meet new friend that stay in contact with me till now... every time that I go to Israel for a visit we get together...

I know I miss allot by not going to her wedding but I sure did send her some thing I made...

It took me a while to decide what to do for her, I didn't want to send something that she won't use. I know Oranit is praying for a lot of people and remember a lot of her friend in her prayers, so I taught a notebook where she can write down prayer requests and name of people will be handy.

For that I added this card which inside had the check for 72$ (4*18, 18 is a very very significant number in the Jewish cloture).

Father's day

Father's day were last week, on that father's day weekend Sheldon's dad went to a fishing trip. He is 80 years old and I hope to be as active as him at that age :-) He still going out to the bush every day and still fish and hunt! He is really an out door person!!!

So for this father's day cards (I've made one from us and one from Sheldon's mom) I've made it with some fishing and hunting theme...

The fishing one was from us. I've made the back round with the Cuttlebug embossing tool and inked it with a chalk brown ink. The trout it's a sticker I got from Michael's' store.

Sheldon's mom card was made with simple card stock and added some ready made maple leaf and moose chipboard.

Aqua swap

In the kumuna "Frida and Numa" we had an Aqua swap. For this one we needed to send one crafty gift, a hand made card and few scrapbooking materials. I got my friend Dorli as my partner for this swap, so I thought it will be nice to spoil her. I was late in sending the package, so I hoped she will love the staff I've sent and forgive me for this booboo... :-).

I was right about it...

The first gift I've made was a runner for her dinning table. I got the material from the hobby shop in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, aren't them beautiful??? I loved the strong aqua color in them.

The second gift I've made are three altered Cd's that make the word "FAMILY". I know I had to make only one, but as I said before I was really late sending it and beside it, I had lots of unused Cd's all around the house... So putting three of them for good work was really good!

For those two gifts I've added some ribbons, paper and all kind of staff that will help Dorli to make her beautiful cards...

Finally I've made this card.

After talking to Dorli on the phone I'm happy to say that she LOVED every thing I've sent her. I'm really happy she did and I hope she will continue crafting her great crafts!

Shavuot - the best Jewish holiday ever!

There are lots of holidays in the Jewish calender. All of them are loaded with lots of food and fancy dinners, but Shavuot is the best! Being the only holiday which all the food is dairy food... Yammmm :-)

On June 8th, we all gathered at Sheldon's mom house to celebrate this great holiday. Our Friends from Toronto join in and Kristian friends from Calgary were lucky to be in that day... Because Sheldon's family are not Jewish I printed an explanation about the holiday.

Shavuot

Shavuot occurs exactly seven weeks after Passover - from which it gets its name, 'weeks'. It commemorates two events: the custom of bringing offering to the Temple from among the first of the harvest (Bikurim) and the first animals born from the flocks. Hence it's other name: Harvest Festival. And, it commemorates giving the Torah to the people of Israel on Mount Sinai.

The holiday is one of the three Pilgrimages to the Temple, the other two being Passover and Sukkot. the feast of the Tabernacles.

Among its many customs are decorating the synagogue with greenery, reciting the book of Ruth, and staying up all night studying the Bible.

In today life, Shavuot is the most loved holiday in Israel for the dairy food that is served during the dinner. There is no specific food to serve but everyone have cheesecake as a dessert for this great dinner.

Most people will celebrate the holiday in one the many Kibbutzes in Israel, where a procession of tractors and wagons festooned with flowers and loaden with wheat and the first fruits of the harvest are paraded before the cheering crowd. Most kids will have their own basket full with fruits and vegetables, decorated with flowers. It is traditional to wear whit clothing that day.

In the New Testament we read about Shavuot in the book of Acts when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples as Christ promise them.

We sure did have a blast of time and great food. It was nice to see every one enjoying and having fun. I made lots of food, salads and pastry and cheese plates filled the table. Sue, my sister in low, made broccoli soup (she is a great cooke and I love her soups!) which was really good!

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the food (forgot in the rush of the moment...) but I can show you the nice table we had... :-)

Softy swap

One of the things I like about being active in "Frida and Numa" Kumuna it's the fact that I'm starting to go back for an old love, sewing. Well, I didn't really liked sewing back in high school, but I sure did fashion design...

Any way, to make a long story short few weeks ago I register to a softy swap, softy as it name it's a very soft doll to play with or for decoration. It took me some time to know what I want to make and even when I decided I have changed my mind few times... in the end I made a Babushka inspired softy. Babushka, in Russian mean grandma, and I tried to make my Babushka old but still cute :-)

I've made also a card but didn't take picture of it... so I'll have to ask the girl that got the swap to take a snap shot of the card and then I'll add it to here...

Roei and Ariel

Roei and Ariel are my two new nephews. I saw Roei first time when he was three months (it was on September 2007) and Ariel was a week old when I went back to Canada from that visit. This visit (April 2008) Roei is 10 months and Ariel is 7, both of them are so active and fun kids. Roei is such a drama queen and every time you dare telling him 'no' his mouth is turned down and a wild scream is sound... it is soooo funny when it happens and I hold my self not to laugh every time it happened :-D. Ariel is a really happy boy and he love to smile and giggle allot, I had lots of fun with them both. Here some pictures of the two of them...

Passover in Israel

On April 15 I celebrated my birthday, on the same day I flew to see my family in Israel and celebrate Passover with them. We had 17 people around the table (not including the two babies...). The kids had a blast looking for the Afikoman (A Maza that we hide during the dinner and who ever find it get a gift, my mom bought gifts to all the kids and we had five rounds so evryone got a gift in the end... :-)). Mom cooked all her tradional food and it was so good to have mom's home cooking food :-) I love cooking but I love my mom's food!!!

I'll stay here in Israel for two weeks and then go back home to Canada. I miss Sheldon all ready!

6 pomegranate and 100 kisses...

Ecclesiastes says that there is time and place to everything under the sun, but in today market we can find fruits and vegetables that out of the season... like pomegranates.

Sheldon is a really determent person. He won't take 'no' for an answer. When he get an idea or something that he wants he will look for it every where, it is a good thing to have in you, but sometime it is drive me crazy!!! :-)

Last few months he start to look for some pomegranate... didn't help that I told him it's not the season for them... he want to eat some. Every time he went through a fruit place he was asking about those red, sweet fruit (I love them as well). One day I just had enough, I told him that he can't find them... 'want to bet???', well, if you'll find a pomegranate I'll give you 100 kisses..

Well, last night he came home with six pomegranates... He sure did got what I promised! :-)

Spring cleaning...

Spring cleaning is here! Well, spring is just around the corner, today we had 19C above the zero!!! Couldn't believe it, I didn't take any jacket with me and didn't need it! I was warm all day :-). Well, one more evidence that time does fly!!!

My camera is taking part of the cleaning as well. It got so much dust inside that I got black spots on all my Bahama pictures (about 400) and I had to go through them all to fix it... what a pain!!! So, I gave it for cleaning today and I hope to get her back on Thursday for the Maple collecting feast on the weekend.

I couldn't believe it but we did it. We flew! Well, more to say, Sheldon did :-). I have no problem to fly, actually I LOVE flying, it's Sheldon that don't feel comfortable on the plan... So, when Sheldon told me that we are going on vacation to the Bahamas I couldn't believe it! We went for a five days vacation and we enjoyed it so much! I have lots of photos and lots of ideas for scrapbooking pages. We went with Anita and Rob, our friends from Timmins, Canada and left the end of the winter behind us and welcomed the sun. We had lots of fun. We stayed next to Nassau, the Bahama's capital but we traveled all over the place.

We took the ferry to Harbour Island (3 hours ride) and enjoyed this little island for a day. We went to the Pink Sand restaurant for lunch and we really enjoyed the food, sun and the view! After the meal and few drinks Anita and I went for a swim in the ocean and the guys took the golf cart for a ride (on Harbour Island there is almost no cars but most of the people ride the golf cart).

On other day we went deep sea fishing and had a great four hours on the boat. We didn't get any big fish ... and only before going back we got a Barracuda (a small one!) :-( ....

Now I'm getting ready for Passover visit in Israel. Can't wait to see my nephews and nieces, specially Roei and Ariel which I last saw when they were only small babies...

Maciver welcome gift

On Sunday Feb. 24, 2008 Maciver was born making his mom, Barb, his dad, Mark and his oldest brother, Calum very happy.

Before Maciver arrived I have made him a "welcome baby" album, and now I have decided to add more staff for my gift... so, with my new passion about sewing I made an elephant (using a pattern I found in my book Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts. I used the pattern to make a patch for a crib blanket as well... I made some mistakes but I still love the results... I hope Maciver will love them as well

Shrine

Shrine is a new area for me in crafts. Shrine it's a box (hand made or a box you had) that contain a crafty subject. The subject can be anything you want. The first shrine swap I ever sign in was the one that took place in "Frida and Numa" Kumuna. I am to send to T42 (That's the girl Internet name) who is one of the most creative girl I know! She is sooooo good in design and making cards and staff. I was really happy at first to get her name but second after I got scared... she is soooo good what if she won't like what I'm doing.. well, I had to get over my fear and make something... In the kumuna T42 said she wants to get some of the sender life... so I send her some of my ocean love. I do hope she will like it...

I have one friend in the USA that going through some hard time. While baking for Efrat I thought it will be nice to send Michal a cookies package as well. I do hope she will get them soon and they will enjoy the sweet treats I've been baking :-)

To send the cookies to Michal I have made another cookies jar. This time I've used an empty coffee tin, the only thing I didn't like it's the blue cover! I've tried to cover it but didn't do a good job this time... still think it is a nice one :-)

Cookies, cookies, cookies

Purim is on the way. Purim is a Jewish holiday that clebrate the book of Esther. Did you know that the book of Esther is the only book in the bible that DOSEN'T mantion God even one time! But we can feel His power through out the book, don't we?!?

So, how we celebrate the holiday you ask? well, the kids get to dress up (just like in Halloween) and do silly things. The main things in Purim is to be happy! The adults usually drink wine and partying... It is a tradition to give sweets and cookies to the poor and exchange with your friends.

In our kumuna "Kan Naim" (means: It is a nice here) we are playing a cookies exchange game. I am sending to a girl in the US. Yesterday was my baking day. I got up pretty early (8:30 AM - It is early for me, still) and start making the doughs for all five different cookies I'm sending. I stood all day and baked. It was fun but very tiering... After baking all the cookies I've made the cookies jar, That was lots of fun!

So, here are my cookies...

After baking it was the time to go to sleep... but hay... I have to make a cookie jar yet.. :-) I started with an empty cane that at one time had some scallops (Yummy too!). I cleaned it and make sure there is not fishy smell in it. It was good to go.

I cover the tin with paper, Browne and pink and design it in a scrapbook feel. I really like the resolutes...

Birthday wishes

One of the things I love about our "Frida and Numa" kumuna is the birthday swap. Each of us get a name of a girl and her birthday date. We are to make something small and a card from all the girls in the kumuna. I got Dorli name, her birthday is on April 01, so I wanted to make the staff as soon as possible. Last night I put the final touch on the notebook and tomorrow I will send it to Israel. I know it is early but I want it to arrive on time (or before) but not late... :-)

Dorli likes far east design and theme so I hope she will like what I've made for her.

This is the notebook I've made. The Chinese word symbol is standing for spring. Thought it will be very appropriate to make it to an April birthday girl :-)

Butterflies kisses

ATC are Artist Trading Cards that artist from all over the world swapping around. The cards are 2.5'*3.5' and can come in all material (all though most of the artist using paper). I like making thous cards. The last ones I've made are butterfly theme. I used paper, stamping and embossing techniques.

I hope the girls that going to get my cards will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

This swap, from swap-bot, was a fun one! I like ladybugs and think they are very cute creatures! I had lots of fun making all the staff and buying the rest.

The first thing I made was a note pad (It's so easy to make... the next time I'll make one I'll take pictures how I do it and show you) with ladybug design... I also made a felt ladybug pin cushion and a hand made card :-) I add a ladybug fabric, beads, buttons and magnet. I really hope she will enjoy the staff and will like the package.

Indian's spirit

When I first signed up to the altered beer coasters I knew that I have to design it with an ancient culture theme but I didn't know which one I'm going to end up using. First I thought about the Egyptian culture but another girl did this one, then I thought maybe the Greek one will be nice but it didn't work out...

well, in the end I came up with the North American Indian's art. I don't have a printer at home (well, I do but it doesn't have any ink) so I couldn't print out from the Internet. All my art books are packed (we hope to be moving out this summer!) and I didn't feel like digging in and looking out for some Indian staff that I have (from the time I was living in North Carolina next to an Indian reservation) so I went and bought a book about the Native American art I thought to cut out the staff I need from the book itself but with the help from my friends Anat and Guy (who almost freaked out when heard that I'm going to cut the book) I ended up photo copping the pictures I wanted and thats what I came up with....

I'm always making a card to the girl that is going to get my staff so this is the card I've made to be sent along with the my art.

So I got my surprise and I'm shipping mine off all the way to Australia! I had so much fun collecting every thing for this surprise swap. I made a bright orange note pad cover and a card. Surprise from Italy

Well, knowing me by now I bet you all know how much I love surprises and I just love to get staff in the mail! It is so much fun! One of the swaps I did trough swap-bot was an international surprise swap, where we needed to buy or make a surprise package that worth up to 10$. This is what I got from Italy... Remember the note book I have sent Adi, so few days ago I got her surprise to me... what a wonderful package! I loved every thing I got!

First Adi knit me some mints for the winter (not to hard to know I'll need them very much). I just love the colorful design, don't you?

Adi also made me an alerted CD, I love it! I thing it will look wonderful on our Christmas tree next year! It's red and has angels on it... isn't it enough?!?

And she made me also this picture, which is very romantic and I find it that it can be on 0ur Christmas tree also along with the CD (red and gold... what more you need in Christmas? :)).

Surprise Surprise

In one of the Israeli's cummuna's, Frida and Numa, (A cummuna it's like a forum on the Internet but it is smallest and for this one you have to be a member to take place in games and swaps) we had a surprise game. Each one of us had to make something to someone else and send it, the receiver didn't know who is going to make the surprise and there was no special request, each one of us had to get as much as information on her partner with out asking question (I went to Adi flicker to see what she likes to do). Adi, my partner love to knit... I know nothing about it (really want to learn but till today didn't) so I made her something that I know to make and I knew that she will use it and hoped she would like (and she did!).

The first thing I have made is a fabric covered notebook for all her notes and remarks. I have used 2 kind of fabrics in the pink tone but not too childish.. ... To close the notebook I have used a ribbon which I attach by some buttons.

With the notebook I have sent Adi five hand made cards for her use. I have tried to give her cards that don't have a specific event (only one which is for birthday).

I got this question all the time, specially from my friends back in sunny Israel. Growing up in Israel was hot.... the summer there can get very hot and humid (if you live in Tel-Aviv area, like I did). I remember the Israeli summers as a kid before each house had an air condition my mom used to wet flat sheet in ice cold water and hang them inside our apartment so it will be colder inside the rooms. Now, don't get me wrong, sometimes it's getting cold in Israel during the winter time (cold for what the people are use to), and we do get sometime lots of rain but it is not even close to the winter here in Canada. I can recall only one time that I have seen snow coming down... It was when I was 16 and went with my dad and my sisters to a trip to the Golan heights. So, you can get the picture of winter in Israel compeer to winter here in Canada, and where this question is coming from...

So what do I do in the winter???

I love the winter here. Not in Toronto, but out in the country there is so much to do and see in the winter time. I love going with Sheldon out to the bush for a hike or snowmobile drive when it is not too cold or snowing out side. I sometime going with Sue and Emerson as well. Sheldon and his family owns lots of properties around so we don't need to go far for a hike :-) We love watching the wild life as well. Deer are my favorite and there are allot of them every where. We love going to the Sugar bush in the winter, you can spot lots of deers over there. The Sugar shack was built by Kristian (Sheldon's brother) and his friend Gouge. In April we are all helping to collect the sap and enjoying the Maple season (YAMMMM!). Be sure I'll have a post about it when the time will come :-)

When it is too cold out side for a hike and I have no craft project on mind I love being lazy and take my day easy, watching the TV, reading a good book and surfing the net for craft inspiration... Yes, those are my winter days. I love it!

An antic type set and a bunny...

Sound like a beginning of a joke? Well, not exactly...

Sue loves antic staff, me too, but she's the one that really going hunting for them. On one of the many auctions that she has been she got this antic typing set. I just fell in love with the look and had to use them some place in Barb's "welcome baby" album. I didn't know where to put them and them it hit me... the tags. Every month has a tag for Barb to write any information about the baby (weight, length, what he did etc.), I think it looks really nice, brought some caricature to the tags.

The next thing to make was the card to go with the album and the rest of the gift (I got some ideas but didn't make them yet). I always buy pepper craft magazine. Some are for scrapbooking and some are for card making. I took the bunny idea from peperCraft inspiration issue 35, June 2007 (http://www.papercraftinspirationsmagazine.co.uk/) I had to copy the pattern and cut it my self... well, I'm not use to it any more! Now when I have the Cricut and the Cattlebug :-) hhhha

New baby is about to join the Davis's

Barb and Mark are about to have there new baby boy. How exiting! I do wonder how Calum will be as a big brother... I know for my self that it's not easy being the oldest (I'm the oldest from the girls side in the family).

I thought for a long time what to get her as a gift. Second child and in the same sex (two boys) there is not that much that she'll need. So, why not making her a Welcome baby album. Each page is for each month, with special area to put the picture, and in side the pocket I put a tag to write what the baby did this month and destined the rest of the page with ribbons, embellishments, button, letters etc. It took me few days to finish it and still there some staff that I have to add tonight when I'll go to see Sue. She got an antic typewriter set and I want to add some writing to the tags.

For the letters I have used my Cricut machine. I just love it. It is so easy to use and I have so much fun with it. For the tag design I have used Sue's Cuttelbug machine, this one is fun cause you can cut shapes from any material that you want, so the design is not limited only for pepper!

Thanks to Sue I have some orange ribbon inside :-) I went to see her specially for the ribbon yesterday and got to play with my buddy Emerson! He is such a cute little guy!

My own Bolonez sauce

Every time Sheldon wants to feel spoiled and special he ask me to make him my Bolonez sauce. He claim it is the best one :-) Well, if that's what I need to do in order to make him feel special, NO problem. I really enjoy cooking and this is my favorite recipe. I love making it cause it is so easy and not much to think... I just throw what ever I like in to the pot. My bolonez is not the classic one but it's a hit in our house hold. Just be aware, in my cooking recipes there is no measurements I just put as much as I like...

Ground beef
Onion chopped
Garlic minced
Can of whole Italian tomatoes
Celery chopped
Carrots chopped
Mushroom sliced
Red pepper cubed
Red wine
Salt
Black pepper
Chili pepper
Paprika
Cumin

Brown the ground beef.
Take the meat out and keep it aside.
In the same pot fry the onion and the garlic. When the onion and the garlic start to sweat add the celery, carrots, red pepper, tomatoes, red wine and seasoning. Bring to a boil and simmer. 15 min. before serving add the mushroom, add beef stock or water if need some liquid, continue cooking till mushroom are soft.

serve with cheese (shhh, don't tell my mom ;-)), garlic bread and a salad.

Banana Bread

I love banana bread. Every time I put my hands on ripe bananas they turn to a banana loaf. Yesterday it happened again. So I took Martha Stewart cook book and start taking out staff and mixing. Being me, I didn't check if all the ingredients I need are at home, how surprise I was when I came to take out the sower cream and couldn't find any... for a second or two I was bummed out, stating baking at 10 PM and not checking if every thing I need is home. But, as I start thinking what to put in instead of the missing sower cream I have spotted the Yogurt Mr. Davis bought that day... well, there is no much difference (just in calories and flavor) and hack with it, if it's not good it will go to the compose any way :-) ... On my way t0 the pantry to look for some walnuts I came across the coconut, why not?? I asked my self and dumped to the mixture a hand full :-)

And if you asking your self what happened to the banana bread????

well, it is almost gone!!!

Banana Bread with my twist:
-----------------------------------

1/4 pound (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar - If using a sweet ed coconut cut sugar to 1/2 cup
2 eggs
11/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup mushed very ripe bananas
1/2 cup sower cream - I used 100 gr. diet yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Butter a loaf pan.

Cream butter and sugar together. Add the eggs beating well.
Sift the dry ingredients together and combine with the butter mixture. Blend well. Add the bananas, yogurt, coconut and vanilla. Add the walnuts and mix well. Transfer to the loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour, until a cake tester comes out clean.
cool and enjoy.

** P.S Don't want the walnuts to be in one place? flour them before adding to the mixture, that will prevante them from sinking down...

I love swapping staff with other people. when I found the swap-bot web site I was really happy! Here I can swap crafty staff with people from all over the world!!! How fun is that.

For this swap we are to take a CD and give it a face lift. I love doing that, taking a thing that in our daily life we don't give it a second thought and transfer it to something else, more beautiful and some time more useful. here I took three Cd's and transfer each one of them to a post card... two of them will be sent to people in Canada and the third one will fly over sea to England. To cut the circle I have used my Making Memories circle cutter which I LOVE. For the address I have cut a small circle and stamped it with a circle lined stamp. For the cutted fonts I have used my Cricut machine, I just LOVE it and have so much fun cutting almost every thing with it (letters, shapes etc.).

I have a friend back home; I got to know her through an Israeli craft forum. She has a blog as well so this way I keep in touch with her. That’s how I found out she is expecting a baby girl... I knew already that she loves cup cakes... Just before Christmas with all the Christmas shopping I went to Wall Mart (love it!!!) and saw a cup cake designed baby girl bibs!!! I knew I have to buy them and send them over to my friend in Israel. So, I did.

Now what left is to make the card to it... well, I knew it will have a cup cake (ofcours :-)) but didn't know which material to use. In the end I chose Felt. I got a cup cake die cut design and used Sue's (my sister in low) cuttlebug to cut it. Then I stitch around and put some beads on and there it is!

It's been a while (more then 10 years) since I last stitch so it is not perfect but I hope she will like it.

Well, every one has a blog now. So it took me some time to open mine and here we go, I jumped into the cold deep water. I have decided to write in English even though it is NOT my first language because most of my family here in Canada don't speak any Hebrew and most of you back home in Israel do speak English...

So what that blog is all about? It’s about me. Who I am and what I love to do…. And I do love to do a lot of things. First, I love craft! Love the feeling of taking a paper and making it to a greeting card or a scrapbook page, love the excitement of taking clay and making some beads or a figure, look on other people junk and think: WOW, I can do something out of it.

I love cooking and baking and I’m a ‘cooking book’ collector, English or Hebrew it doesn’t matter to me, if it has good recopies I want it!

Well, I will try to write more about my self and let you all know what I’m up to those days. I do have a projects list that some will be sent over seas and some I’ll keep
